I am adding a couple more from Pete’s Colorado Dog photography session! These first two are clearly the hits of the session! I love the B&W images, too, for the way they portray a connection. Simple. And the last dog photo? Well. Tis the season!

Here are just two of the many fun dog photographs I captured of Pete during his studio session at LITfoto this week. Pete’s human, Eleanor is a veterinarian. This is one trick she wanted me to see! He was able to wait an amazingly long time before SNARFING! And wow, was he FAST! What was so funny, is that as we continued repeating the trick, he figured out to “accidentally” let the treat drop off his nose - knowing we’d give him another go at it! I haven’t finished editing these yet, but wanted to put these two out there!

Colorado Wedding Photography - Sarah & Virgil - Silverthorne Pavilion

I’m finally getting a moment to post photos from Sarah and Virgil’s wedding photography on October 3rd! Sorry for the delay, but I’ve been moving into a new space and getting the place all freshened up!

I hope you enjoy the photos. The wedding took place at the Lord of the Mountains church in Dillon, Colorado. The reception moved to the Silverthorne Pavilion. I love shooting at both venues! Lord of the Mountain Church is a bright, open and airy space. When the church constructed the cross you see in the photos, I was a photojournalist working for the local paper (Summit Sentinel) and actually photographed its construction! Getting the chance to shoot in there, always brings back fond memories.

And shooting at the Silverthorne Pavilion is always a joy. There is not another space in Summit County to rival the feel. This wedding had lights strung across which created a starlight effect - one which I really had fun with blurring as the evening led to dancing!

Colorado Dog Photography - Wompas & Manu

Wompas and Manu, two Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, recently visited the LITfoto studio for a session. The shot of Manu with dad’s shoe was a candid captured during the course of shooting! I love allowing for dogs to be themselves in front of my camera. This is my first session with Griffons and I was amazed at how intelligent and responsive 2-year-old Manu was with me! Wompas, at 12-years old, is captured to show off an amazing beard!

Colorado Family & Dog Photography - Gross Family

When it comes to photography of families, there is no telling what a studio session might be like. When Michelle & family from Alpine Veterinary Practice (Dillon, CO 80435 970/468-2144) came into the studio I had no idea what to expect from this mix of family photography, infant photography and dog photography!

Michelle & husband Chaz, one infant, one four-year-old (Cody) and two 11-week old lab puppies. Piece of cake. Sure. And when we were done shooting…WOW! I surprised even myself! Here’s a selection from an amazing session! I even had energy left to photograph the puppies by themselves when we were done.

Michelle and Chaz were great, leaving the pups alone for me to “work” with (ha ha ha). Okay, so it requires patience and a great sense of humor for puppy antics! The last set is a series of the pups posing, then falling prey to each other!

2009 Portrait Exhibition at Center for Fine Art Photography

The Center for Fine Art Photography has selected “Biker Girl” to hang in its 2009 Portraits Exhibition, Nov. 6 - 28th.

I photographed this little girl in 1985 when I lived in Eagle Nest with a group of bikers, in what used to be summer tourist cabins. I was the regional editor for Taos News at the time.

The images were selected by juror, Mary Ellen Mark. Mary Ellen Mark is a photographer known for her photojournalism, portraiture, and advertising photography. She has had 17 collections of her work published and has exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide. She has received numerous accolades, including three fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship. Additionally, Mark was awarded the Photographer of the Year Award from the Friends of Photography, three Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards, Matrix Award for outstanding woman in the field of film/photography, World Press Award for Outstanding Body of Work Throughout the Years, Victor Hasselblad Cover Award, and numerous other prestigious awards. Mark has published photo-essays and portraits in such publications as LIFE, New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair. For over four decades, she has traveled extensively to make pictures that reflect a high degree of humanism. Today, she is recognized as one of our most respected and influential photographers.

The Portraits will be on display in the Center’s online gallery and physical gallery from November 6 - November 28, 2009. The public and artists’ reception will be held in Fort Collins on November 6, 2009 from 6-9pm.

Sarah & Virgil ~ Lifestyles Photography ~ Vail Pass

I took Sarah and Virgil up on Vail Pass for a sunset lifestyles session for their engagement portraits . I had hoped for a more vibrant alpenglow on the mountains east. When the sun dropped behind clouds I knew that was lost, but what was waiting in the west made for some bold silhouettes (and a few goofy photos to boot! Pun Intended.)

Kaki & Robert’s Wedding Photography Book Online!

Bear & Glory | Colorado Dog Photography

Here are a few high-ISO images of Bear Dog and Glory Girl captured with my Nikon D300. These have been shot at ISO’s of 1600 and 6400! The 6400 ISO photos are pretty “noisy” - though still look much like film grain. The ISO 1600 images are amazingly sharp! Much like what my TriX film used to look like pushed to 1600.

Bear & Glory on Vail Pass | Colorado Dog Photography

Bear had to share the limelight with Glory on Vail Pass the other evening. I photographed Bear on Vail Pass a couple of years ago following an engagement photography session. That image won an international award for pet photography. You can see in these photos he’s not thrilled about sharing the glory with his sister, Glory! Poor Mr. Bear Dog.
