Brent and I try to get together in the canoe with his daughter Mya every summer. This year we gave daughter, Kate, her first boarding pass! Brent is a former wedding client, now great friend (I guess he loved the photos!). I photographed Brent and Allison 10 years ago at Ten Mile Station, in Breckenridge, Colorado! 

This was a great opportunity to give up the paddle for the Nikon and shoot new lifestyle photography.

Yesterday I was able to attend a wedding and NOT be working! Jayne and I attended Spencer & Jessica’s wedding, near Breckenridge, Colorado. Spencer is a young photographer who showed in my Obscura Gallery a few years ago. I really admire his work, his passion and his mellow, practical nature.

This was a great opportunity to shoot images with my little Fuji X-10 camera. I recently got it back from repair after killing it shooting Tough Mudder! While this little guy is really a pain to shoot (it has very unique nuances which need to be managed), it produces amazing files. It’s f2.o lens is bright for low light, it’s JPEG files are quite stunning and, of course, it looks really cool!

Kimberly and Doug were referred to me by prior clients Mary and Scott who were referred to me by Mary’s brother Mike (and Carolyn). I have a long history of working with this family! I photographed Mike and Carolyn’s wedding at Keystone Ranch in 1997! We have become good friends over the years and I’ve watched their family grow up!

Kimberly and Doug got married this summer in Boulder. The images are from the Hotel Boulderado and the Greenbriar Inn, north of Boulder.

I know I know…my website has become out-of-date and bloated. I’ve been focusing on education in my life…both in teaching and learning, so much of what I had been doing fell a bit by the wayside.

But soon I’ll be showing off new websites – for my Dog Photography, my Holga Toy Camera fine art and bringing my digital photography course online!

“What? But what about your award-winning wedding photography?” I’m sure many are asking. Well, the truth is…I’m moving away from shooting weddings full time. What?! In truth, I’ll still maintain a presence for my Wedding Photojournalism. BUT, I’m going to be choosing my clients more carefully and shooting only select weddings in the future. In other words, if a couple likes my work, and the chemistry is there? Yes, by all means! I still love shooting weddings…I just want to make sure the ones I shoot are for couples who truly appreciate my style. 

So, that in mind! I’ll be introducing some new domains (including for weddings!) and some very new websites!

I had a chance to do some engagement wedding photography for Jaime and Jordan who will be getting married out of state.

While the weather didn’t exactly cooperate, we managed to get in about an hour before we couldn’t shoot anymore! Here are a few from the photography session!

This first is funny! We had just started shooting and along comes this dog who jumps into the photo and starts posing! I thought, “what the heck?” and started shooting!

Rachel and Sean were married in Copper Mountain Colorado. They tied the knot at the Copper Mountain Chapel before moving on to a fun reception at the Copper Station! I came away with wonderful images – especially the images of her with her Dad before the wedding began. These images – tapping into my eye as a former photojournalist – are something I excel at capturing.

I had a chance to work with Rachel and Sean last summer when we did a Lifestyles Session together on the shore of Lake Dillon. This mountain has amazing views of the Continental Divide, with “Fourteeners” Grays and Torreys as the backdrop. These Peaks rise to 14,267′ and

Andrea and Jim’s wedding was a very small, intimate wedding. It is one reason why we spent so much time photographing them doing what they love in the mountains, rather than focusing on the ceremony itself.

Always open to ideas from my clients, Andrea hit on a great one! We were chatting about my love of canoeing, and the canoe I purchased last year. Excited by this, she asked if I would do some wedding lifestyle photographs of them in the canoe!

From a really cool idea to really sweet photographs!

The first two shots of Andrea are how we got her in the canoe without trashing her wedding dress! That’s fashion, baby!
