I really only planned on this session as a lighting test. I envisioned a fine art nude and partial-nude series which would be reminiscent of the vintage French postcard genre. My vision included unique tattoos and would rely upon a slash of light to highlight the tattoos. Model Mandy Bostic visited my studio recently and combining our visions created this set of images.
The black and white images are captured digitally – and NO I did not create the effect in Photoshop. The blur effect is captured “in-camera” using a filter I created years ago for a commercial lifestyles campaign. The color image is from the Holga Toy Camera.
So far the response has been great! Both Mandy and I feel that we really tapped into that “French Postcard” look – obscure and sexy, yet not “cheesy!” – while keeping tattoos as the main focus.
