I have been loving what I can capture with my D300 and high-ISO settings. The D300 is allowing the photojournalist in me to respond to natural light – discreetly and with out any annoying, obtrusive flash.
In addition, I recently purchased a 50mm Nikkor lens! I love the simplicity and compactness of this lens. I have been shooting with 50′s for years as a way to “force my vision.” I use this as a reference to finding creativity with the “limitation” of only one lens. I teach my students how to make a 50 mm “normal” lens look like a short telephoto and in some cases a short wide angle lens. In the case of digital, the 50 mm crops to about a 75 mm lens – a great length for shooting intimate portraits.
Oh, and these are captured in B&W using the D300′s monochrome setting. I love committing my B&W vision from the start!

I love the sharpness on the eyes. whats the speed? I agree about fixed lenses being pure, especially the 50, it was my 1st lens of choice for years.
