This is a recent maternity portrait I captured with the Holga Toy Plastic Camera.

I use the Holga in the studio with my wireless studio lighting system! It’s really kind of funny – a $30 Holga Plastic Camera with a $250 wireless transmitter sitting on the hotshoe! Anyway, regardless of the equipment used, I love the Holga’s natural vignetting as it accentuates the beautiful, sensual curves of a pregnancy.
I first got the idea when Lenka came to me and asked me to photograph her. I first photographed Lenka for a series of upscale hair salon images captured in the studio. As we talked I began envisioning how a Holga would capture a special feeling.

Beautiful pregnancy portraits. (Do you have any more?)Once again they remind me of my own. I printed mine on this Check paper which gives it that old feel that yours have from the Holga. Amazing how sharp that camera is. Obviously you are shooting film with it; must be B&W and you are probably processing in your own Darkroom?? I have a whole series based upon the 9th month. I recently and reluctantly did a new one of a yoga master. I will send you the tryptych composite I slapped together in PSHP.
These are captured on film…Kodak 400 BW…it’s a chromogenic (c-41 process) film. It scans beautifully and reproduces prints beatifully on color paper (traditional method).
